Throughout the program, I found that my opinions and knowledge regarding activism and feminism expanded, which allowed me to think about how I can relate activism to my ultimate academic and professional goals. The culmination of the program included the completion and dissemination of an action project; my personal project involved creating various games for children to play in order to promote literacy and encourage reading and writing. The above prezi, which I presented to my fellow ACT ladies at the end of the program, describes the process I went through of choosing and developing my action project. In completing my project, as well as through my experience in ACT, I learned that activism starts at the microcosm and ends at the macrocosm, which is why I started working on these games so I can work with children on an individual level and hopefully expand my ventures in the future. My next step will be to attempt to implement these activities at the literacy program (MEAC at the John P. Parker school) that I volunteer with.
