I am a Cincinnati born-and-raised senior psychology major who loves everything about UC and my city. I love working with other students as the Assistant Program Coordinator for the URSC office at UC and as an undergraduate teaching assistant. I am also pursuing a certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling because I am passionate about mental health, particularly as it related to deviant behavior. This summer I interned at River City Correctional Center, a jail that focuses on rehabilitation and reintegration of its nonviolent inmates.
Completing my experiences within the University Honors Program dramatically impacted the course of my life and my choice in how I will further my studies. My goal when I started UC was to become a doctor, but when I began my interest in research I used the UHP to help me truly reflect on why I was pursuing the type of research I was pursuing. The deep reflection I experienced through the honors program made me realize that my research about Female Sex Offenders and my advocacy work through Reclaim were both part of what I wanted to pursue as my life's work. As a result of my work with women and girls and my research in the realm of criminal justice and substance abuse counseling, I now know that I hope to someday work with women offenders to help them get the treatment and rehabilitation that they truly need.
